[Help] The RE.net Help the Tornado Victims
February 8, 2008 by Andy Kaufman · View Comments
A few days ago, while we were out voting and partying on Super Fat Tuesday, a series of Tornadoes left a path of destruction that killed over 50 people and left thousands homeless.
Almost immediately, Benn and Lani over at Agent Genius jumped into action and began to mobilize the RE.net to do what they help those in need.
What you can do to help:
1. Click the donate button below (thanks to Jay Thompson) and give whatever you can.
2. Help spread the word. Use all these social media tools that we have at our disposal to help get the word out. Blog about it, Talk about it on Twitter, Record an Utterz or Seesmic and ask your friends, fans and readers to do the same.
More info can be found over on Agent Genius & BloodhoundBlog

The 30 Day Challenge – The Recap & the Future
January 15, 2008 by Andy Kaufman · View Comments
Wow, that went by quick. The first 30 day challenge is over and it was a whole lot more fun than i thought it was going to be. During the challenge, I put out a blog post on 27 of the 30 days. Knowing that I was committed to a daily post, kept me in the mind set of constantly searching for my next post.
As a result of the challenge:
- I’ve grooved a new positive habit
- My traffic has more than doubled
- I’m rediscovering my voice & making new connections
- I’m having fun doing it.
That = a W in my book. Thanks to all who joined along and lent me support, I really appreciate it.
So what’s next? …Another 30 day challenge of course!!
I’m already feeling a little anxious about this next one, which is going to focus on bridging the digital divide.
I’ve decided that for the next 30 days, i’m going to call 30 people whom I primarily have an online connection to. I’m not the biggest fan of talking on the phone, but after having a few awesome conversations in the past couple of weeks with online friends, I’ve decided that committing to doing this for the next thirty days wouldn’t be so bad.
Plus I’m thinking that after the 30 days, I’ll either still dislike talking on the phone as much as I do now, or maybe I’ll discover a newfound love for it. The way I see it, it’s a case of ‘nowhere to go, but up.’
Who’s down for round 2?

Introducing RE.net Talks v1.0 (alpha of course)
January 12, 2008 by Andy Kaufman · View Comments
Who wants to try something cool?
Inspired by the reaction to my recent Yahoo Pipe that I made for the Inman RE ConnectNYC conference & blogged about on AgentGenius , I decided to do a bit more tinkering this afternoon.
So this is what I did… I’ve launched a real time RE.net conversation tracker (currently in alpha) If you want to appear in RE.net Talks (alpha), just add re_net_talks (REnet_talks) on Twitter & I’ll add you back. Once we’re connected, your tweets will start appearing.
Update: Note the new twitter user name
Update 1/12 7:34pst – Back up and running (I think)

Too Sexy for Real Estate?
December 22, 2007 by Andy Kaufman · View Comments
No way!
The Front Steps blog in San Francisco had some fun recently and held a little contest where my buddy Mark Choey was named the sexiest male REALTOR in San Francisco.
Mark is the creator of the SF New Developments blog, a co-founder of the Climb Real Estate Group, and all around super cool dude.
He’s my go to guy when I need the skinny of what’s going down in the city, or need a sounding board for super geeky ideas that would draw blank stares from almost any other agent.
Fellow MEBA team member Norman and I recently spent a day with Mark looking at some East Bay new developments and brainstorming ideas for the new year and let’s just say that I’m super excited to get started on some of the things that we thought up.
Until then, I just wanted to say, congrats Mark! I know that you were on pins and needles waiting for the results. Now you can finally rest easy
Greg Swann does his best Dave Winer impersonation…
December 21, 2007 by Andy Kaufman · View Comments
… in a post on BloodHound Blog where he blasted both Daniel Rothamel’s recent video (which I posted yesterday), and the RE.net for their cliquish behavior in praising it and promoting it virally.
So I was in my thinking chamber (otherwise known as the shower) this morning, when it dawned on me…Greg is sort of like the RE.net’s Dave Winer. While I’ve actually never met either of them in person, I respect the hell out of both of them. They’re both opinionated, sometimes cranky geniuses who push the boundaries of new media technologies and this approach often lands them in the middle of e-pissing matches.
As a result of Greg’s post & the comments on Joel Burslem’s post, a pretty interesting conversation is forming. Lani weighed in over at AgentGenius and even the housing bubble bloggers are getting in on the action.
Which brings us to the real questions; if Swann is our Winer, does that make Glenn Kelman our Jason Calacanis? … and who wants to be Scoble?
